Always use the color mode that is required by the service provider or printing press. Some services support Adobe RGB for photo prints but not for prints on cups etc. 99.99% of all printing presses printing on paper use CMYK. The recovery slider in Lightroom is gone. It was replaced with the Highlights slider in 2012 with the CS6 version. The new Highlights feature is fare better. Please try Picture / Equalizer in GraphicConverter. If you use the Highlights slider you may experience even better results.

Do not think of the color tool. Simply try the functions. It really is a try and devolop as there is no way to measure wrong color.

Xe helps to do it even easier. Play with the controls and follow your feeling.

please read in my manual the section Processing Pictures from page 113 and skip the first chapter Non-destructive image editing with the Cocooner and all chapters you think you don't need. Once you do not understand a paragraph please quote the text for more help.
