Thank you. Trashing the preferences with the First Aid app fixed it.
I have no idea how it happened. I did some searching in the plists that were put in the trash (11, 10, and something earlier) and didn't see anything unusual.

All text that I type into GraphicConverter is oblique (slanted). This happens for all fonts, including programmer fonts that have no option but 'regular.' Italic and oblique fonts come out more slanted than they should. There is no way to get an 'upright' font. I have used GraphicConverter for years...
