It doesn't work.

Even re-saving the file without any changes result in being not recognized.
So I have to assume there are differences in some kind of file data between both versions.

Thanks for your reply. I did not say that I want to convert the file. The job is: 1. to open the original file. 2. to alter the picture data. 3. to save the file without changing any "non picture data." Is GC able to do point 3.? I have to assume that GC changes unknown internal file data ...
