Re: Making an 8 foot by 4 foot banner
A typical viewing distance for a 4'x8' banner would be 13-18'. From that distance the ppi resolution of the image should be about 21. Did you try and create a file with too many pixels for the needed image? A reference to selecting the appropriate ppi for different image sizes and viewing distances ...

[Solved] file renaming takes a very long time
Thorsten, I'm working with large raw files from a Fuji camera (50MB) and running the file renamer takes 38s to fully rename 5 files. Since I'll often have hundreds of files in a shoot the whole process takes a very long time (hours? if running in the background). The rename style is to add the date ...

Re: geotagging from a gps track log
Thanks Thorsten and my apologies for asking, I do not know why I didn't check that menu. As always GC is a great program and thanks for all your work making it so.

Geotagging a file with a gps track log (GPX)
Thorsten, One of the functions in Adobe's Lightroom is to tag images with gps coordinates from a gps track log file. Jeffrey Friedl has a Lightroom plugin (http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/gps) that does this even better than LR itself. I'm no longer a LR user and I thought this might be a s...

Re: [Open] Setting up an AutoConvert folder with a file renaming option
It is a pretty standard addition of a date string: _DSF8786.RAF ==> 20170122_DSF8786.RAF. I imagine the tricky part is recognizing those files that have already been renamed once and not trying to do it again if the To folder is the same as the watched folder.

[Solved] Setting up an AutoConvert folder with a file renaming option
I have a particular rename style I use for renaming files from the EXIF date data in the files off my camera. I'd like to have a folder which GC will watch and automatically rename any files I add to it. I don't see that functionality in the Auto Convert command.

Re: GC 6.5 and automator in OSX 10.5.8
<r>Hi Lyle, Mostly just exploring right now. I wanted to setup a workflow that took the images I selected by clicking (from several different folders), made a backup copy, resized them to specific pixel dimensions, and finally did the equivalent of save for web. Rich --- In <EMAIL email="gcmac@yahoo...

Re: GC 6.5 and automator in OSX 10.5.8
<r>Thanks for the reply Thorsten. I don't know much applescript and in this case I wasn't interest in speed so much as simplicity combined with the capabilities of GC. If a more complete integration with Automator is possible I think it would fit in very well with the concept of GC. If it isn't wort...

GC 6.5 and automator in OSX 10.5.8
<t>I've just upgraded to GC 6.5 and OSX 10.5.8. Starting the new automator program shows almost no entries for GC; I've found only 4, convert to jpeg, create preview&icon, remove rsrc fork and rotate jpeg lossless. It'd be wonderful if automator would let me use GC batch commands or, at least, g...
