Solved. I figured out to use "Effect>Animation Frames>Append Other Animation"
It is confusing how to get the option to be enabled with the correct animation to append. Perhaps a dialog box to select .gifs from?

How do I append one .gif animation to another? I want to make one .gif animation out of two.

I keep having .jpg files saved as .jpeg, which essentially makes a duplicate file. What to I change in the prefs to prevent this?

When I place a folder alias within the folder I am browsing, it doesn't appear at the top with the regular folders, instead it appears at the end (bottom) of the images I'm browsing. I did this with layers; I copied the face into a new layer and blurred the background and merged the layers. Took a little touching up with the blur tool but since it was a small image to be used as profile icon on pages it looks ok.

I want to select an area (a face) and blur the background. I get that this probably involves the alpha channel and maybe inverting it. Is there any guidance or tutorial on how to do this? Must be a fairly common request.
