The color picker is managed by the macOS and not by GraphicConverter.
Just drag and drop from the large color field to the small fields.

I have no other such report.
A black window indicates normally a corrupt color profile.
Did you try to trash the prefs with our First Aid Tool?

The convert command supports only JPG, PNG and TIFF as written as error message in the console: unsupported file format (JPG,PNG,TIF): PDF Just create a batch within the browser that has a set format batch action. Thanks for the sample file. The image contains no color profile. But it contains the Exif color tag set to uncalibrated. The general meaning of this is: assign the Adobe RGB profile.
