Here's another oddity. If I open it from the Services submenu, it opens just fine:

Unable to Open Image from Messages
If I try to open a photo that someone has sent me with Messages I get the following error: "The system error -1 occured while processing file IMG_3435.JPG." However, if I drag the photo to a directory on the hard drive I can then open it just fine. When I search for that error code, I get ...

[Solved] Low Contrast in Levels Window
I keep my Mac in Dark Mode because after cataract surgery it's much easier for me to see the screen. But, in GC I have great difficulty seeing the controls in the level window: Screenshot 2019-04-04 13.21.45.jpg Is there anything I can do to make the Input Levels indicators easier to see? (Yeah, it'...

Re: Can't Create Icon and Preview
Thank you.
The original screenshot I posted was from PathFinder rather than the Finder, but both programs showed the same symptom on exactly the same set of files.
As you suggested, a restart fixed it for both Finder and PathFinder.
'Thanks again.

Can't Create Icon and Preview
2017 iMac Running OSX 10.13.4 GC 10.6 See the attached screenshot. I'd like to create icons for the photos that do not have them, but I can't figure out how to do it. If I open the image and then: File > Convert & Modify > File > Create Icon/Preview Nothing seems to happen. I also tried doing th...

That's OK. I was just curious about what, exactly, was going on. Now I understand.

[Solved] How to Open Images at Actual Size
I recently got a new iMac with a 4K display after years of using an old MacMini with a 1080p display. With the 1080p display if I opened an image it displayed at actual size (more or less) but with the 4K display, the images are tiny. How do I tell GC to open an image at actual size? To demonstrate ...

Re: Geolocation Question
Mystery Solved: I asked the author of Koredoko, the iOS photo mapping app, about getting a photo’s location even if there is no GPS data in the EXIF header. Here’s his answer: "iOS Photo library may hold location information even if there is no information in Exif-GPS. Koredoko looks for locati...
