Outputting transparent Tiff

Post by hankins.greg »

Hi Folks! One of the tasks I need to do consistently but can't figure out how to do in GC is to remove the background from a logo or bit of line art. I've read up in the documentation, but I can't find this. In other words, imagine I have the Apple logo on a black field. I need to be able to select the black field with the magic wand tool, delete it, so that the logo is floating in transparent space, and then save that as a tiff, preserving the transparency, so I can import it into Quark and lay the logo on a red background. It would also be nice to be able to chose something distinctive -- like a checkerboard -- as the pasteboard color, so that I know when I have deleted the black background and isolated the logo successfully. Thanks for any help. Greg
