Thanks, Chris.  Rt mouse button clicks are not something I naturally associate with the way I use GC. If I was using a mouse I prob'ly would have found it by accident!Greg

image looks bad after saving

Post by Zalman Lazkowicz »

Hi to all,I’m creating a poster using Swift Publisher, saved it at 400 dpi for customer, about 4000x6000 px. Then I used this JPEG to create smaller sizes, 600 px wide, at 72 dpi for posting in my shop on Etsy. Saved at almost maximum on Etsy, over 500kb. Image doesn’t look good, even zooming in.The first image is already reduced in size 600 px/72, on my desktop. Second image is posted on etsy, after saving it at around 500kb, maybe even more. What can be a problem ? All my images on etsy look good, including other posters. This is the first time it happens. Thanks, ZalAnd this is how it looks on Etsy(copied from Etsy):

Thanks Thorsten, here is the copied image from Etsy. It’s about 340kb, almost maximum, 570 px wide. The original image is the largest at around 4500x6400 at 400 dpi, and it will be emailed to customer for printing. To post on Etsy, I used this original image for printing, resized it. This type of quality usually when saving below 50. But maybe you see something else ? zipped file on the bottom. Especially bad looking is the purple font in the middle. Again, this is just for showing on etsy.  On 15 Oct 2015, at 1:30 PM, Thorsten Lemke lemke@lemkesoft.de [gcmac] <gcmac@yahoogroups.com> wrote:Hello, please e-mail zipped.Only question mark is in the e-mail.ThorstenThanks Thorsten, here is the copied image from Etsy. The flaws you're seeing in the image are jpeg artifacts, and they are inherent in the jpeg image compression method, though they can be reduced by choosing higher quality output (which makes the files bigger.) Jpeg was designed to use on photographs, where that sort of artifact is much less noticeable. For compressing non-photgraphic images, other image formats, such as png, are often preferable.
