How to create a torn edge effect, or other indication a window was c

Attachments :torn page.pngsmall torn two sides.pngsmall diagonal tear.pngMy job includes creating technical documentation, and I often need to show a cropped portion of a program window. I want it to be obvious to the reader that they're not seeing a full window. Most often I’d want to crop two sides, but even a one-side tear effect would work. It doesn't need to be a torn edge -- that's just the first thing that comes to mind. But I'd welcome suggestions of other ways to convey this graphically.  Attached are examples I’ve found of images torn on one side, two sides, and diagonally.
