[Added] Seamless tiles? Any interest in having that ability?

Post by MikeChristy »

Is there any interest in having the ability to make seamless tiles? If you don't know what a seamless tile is... it is a graphic that butts up to itself on all 4 sides and seems to make a continuous texture or pattern. It is similar to a fill pattern that is seamless.

The difference is that the software let you MOVE the TILE AROUND so that you can see the edges so that you can "heal" the seams so that they become unnoticeable. The software would give you a preview of the tile butted up to itself so that the seams could be blended together.

Any interest in having Graphic Converter be able to do this?

Well, I guess not... maybe I am the only person that thinks that seamless tiles would be fun to make. Oh well.

Maybe people don't know what a seamless tile is? This is an example of a seamless tile.

I'm a bit late to this, but I only just joined the forums.

Yes! I'd love to have seamless tiling. Here are some ideas about how I'd like it to work.

* An operation to apply a circular offset to an image.

* Be able to display any number of tiles of the image each way. To get a good impression of how seamless an image is, it helps to see it continuously tiled. This would be a display mode, not an editing operation on the pixels.

A third idea would be a lot more work, but also nice to have:

* Filters operating cyclically, in one dimension or both. For example, a blur would bleed features near one edge into the opposite edge.
