[Solved] Canon CR2 files and XMP Sidecars

Post by s1mple1mds » Tue Jul 25, 2017 6:50 am

My apologies if this has already been covered, however i cannot locate the answer searching the forums.

i use Graphic Converter to import my CR2 (RAW) files from the camera. I have been adding "Keywords" and the image already contains GPS information from the camera. Is there a way to imbed the KEYWORDS into the CR2 raw file WITHOUT the sidecar being created. I find the sidecar process quite messy when importing photos into macOS Sierra (Photos.app). i.e - when exported the master files the keywords are no longer present unless i have the original XMP file. So, if its possible somehow in the settings to IMBED the keyword Metadata that would be great?

Thank you

Please forward a CR2 for testing to lemke@lemkesoft.de
Some RAWs do not support the embedding.

Hello

Is there any solution for this yet or do you need more files for testing.

As I know from other programs (Aperture, Breeze Browser) it must be possible to write the metadata into the *cr2-files.

Vielen Dank, es funktioniert.

Damit kann ich mir die Anschaffung von Photo Mechanic sparen.

Viele Grüße
