[Solved] Unwanted text wrapping in text object
When adding a text object to a graphic, the text is wrapping as though in a narrow width. It ignores the actual rectangle of the text object, and moving the handles does not correct the wrapping.
In this example, I have added some names (in red) to this map. For one of them, you can see that the text handles should allow a wider width, but the text wraps anyway.
Thanks for the help!

Hi,
do you use the current 10.5.5? That should fix that issue.

I just checked and tried it again. Yes, I am using 10.5.5. The wrapping problem still exists.

Re: Unwanted text wrapping in text object
I closed GC, used the tool to trash the preferences, and re-launched GC.
I opened the file with the problem. Unfortunately, there is no change. The text still appears wrapped, regardless of how I set the text box handles.
***ATTACHED*** is the file involved, "small map NOT FLATTENED.gcimgd" I have ZIPPED this, since the forum doesn't like files with the "gcimgd" extension.
DANKE FOR YOUR HELP!!!!!

Re: Unwanted text wrapping in text object
Any progress on this?
It's easy to reproduce:
1) Open GC and start a new blank sheet
2) Click "A" text tool and click somewhere on sheet
3) Type a sentence -- text will be wrapped in a narrow column
4) Try to drag handles on text box ... text stays in a narrow column
I am using GC 10.5.5 (2998), under macOS 10.13.3.
THANK YOU!

Re: Unwanted text wrapping in text object
I'll try to answer this.
Following your suggestions everything works OK, (old System 10.9.5 -- GC 10.5.4). Normal wrapping behaviour.
So I copied your red city names, pasted them in Apple's TextEdit, then used Edit > Select All. The yellow areas are showing a hidden formatting. [pict 1]
In TextEdit, positioning the cursor just before the city name, the pointer transforms into a vertical bar with arrows that you can move (left), losing the formatting, and the text is finally, er... distended. [pict 2]
It's likely that you have copied each city name from a list, then on GC you've grabbed the text tool [A], clicked on location and pasted the text.
If the document of origin was strangely formatted, this formatting was copied along with the text, which breaks the wrap routine.
In conclusion, you should, either select the single city name (double click) avoiding to grab the side formatting part (?) or type manually every word in place.
Does it make sense? This works, here. See pict 3:
