Trying to handle 16 bit grayscale TIFFs without 8 bit conversion?

Post by transicord70 »

Hi, I am generating 16-bit grayscale TIFF scans of film negatives using SilverFast Ai and an Epson scanner. I'd like to invert these (ie create a positive image) in GC. However, the TIFFs are always converted to 8-bit grayscale. Is there a way of opening, processing and saving a 16-bit grayscale TIFF without affecting the bit depth? I'm using GC v6.7.1 on a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.4. Many thanks, Matt

Hi Matt, Sorry, there is no 16 bit per channel support, yet. Hi Thorsten, Thanks for the reply. Can I add 16 bit per channel support as a feature request please? Hi Matt, Yes, that is already on the list for the changes after the release of the 7.0. I'm used to do 14 (and hence 16) bit scan. Though seeing them in the browser is really slow... Hello, After the release. The 16 bit support does require a lot of changes. Has there been any update on this? Hi, This will be the next bug step after the version 8 release.
