Sharpness slider has no effect

Dear Thorsten,As Robert Poland noted, the sharpening effect is so slight that I, too, did not notice it until now. Compared to the sharpening slider in other programs such as iPhoto it is so subtle as to be almost useless to me. Might it be possible to increase the effect of this slider so that it is more useful? Hmmm that slider in adjust works for me, but the I notice the sharpening is much more subtle than using Effect>Unsharp Mask.I have wondered what the difference is in the algorithms (but the explanation is probably over my head
