Full Screen in 7.6.1 not as good as in 6.7.4

Post by Alvin Auerbach »

Hi Thorsten, In 6.7.4 full screen display is achieved by Command-G. In 7.6.1 full screen display is achieved by Option-Command-F. I think that 6.7.4 uses anti-aliasing, and 7.6.1 does not (or perhaps it’s just different), as there is a bit more jaggedness in 7.6.1. Just to be sure, I did a screen print of both of them, and opened them in Preview at 100%, so that I could compare them side by side. Sure enough, 7.6.1 was not quite as good as 6.7.4. My test print was a 119 KB, 442 x 640 color photo. My monitor is a 27" iMac. Would it be possible to improve 7.6.1 full screen display to be as good as, or maybe better (!?) than, in 6.7.4? Thanks, Alvin

Hi Alvin, GC7 does now use the official Apple shortcut for fullscreen. Also, GC7 does use Cocoa with best interpolation for the display. GC6 uses the old Quickdraw with antialising. Can I get a sample file for testing? Thorsten- I'd like to see a higher quality rendering as well, especially in the browser thumbnails, which currently show a lot of aliasing artifacts. Rendering of these seems slower in recent releases of GC7 - have you changed something? Thanks, as always. Hello Jim, No, I did not change. Did you try to trash the prefs? Eureka! Things are back to normal now - moira is gone and rendering speed is back to expectation. I now recollect that you gave me this same advice once before when I had a similar problem with an earlier version of GC7- I guess my memory isn't what it used to be. Must remember to try trashing prefs before reporting a problem with GC in the future... Thanks!
