Build 987 breaks Canon scanner

Post by watcombeman »

My Canon MG5150 scanner does not work with build 987. It does the Preview OK, but when I ask it to Scan the scanner just hangs. The only way out is to force quit Graphic Converter and turn the printer off and on again. I have reverted to build 986, which works OK. So something has been changed here that stops ScanGear and GC communicating with one another. Thorsten, have you any suggestions as to how I can help to find out what has gone wrong? TWAIN continues to be the problem it has been for ages :-( Jhn.

Yes. Build 986 works perfectly with the scanner in both 32 bit and 64 bit mode Build 987 launches the scanner, and I can perform a Preview scan, but when I attempt the final scan the "Scan in progress" window opens but that's it. there's no progress and I have to Quit GC. This leaves the scanner in a Busy state, so the MG5150 has to be turned off and on again before I can use it. ScanGear (the MG5150 scanner software) has three modes, Basic, Advanced and Autoscan. Basic and Autoscan enable you to Preview, select part of the image and Scan, and behave as described above. Autoscan just does a whole page scan and transfers the image to GC when it has done so. Except that in 987 it does the scan, opens the Transferring image" window and then hangs. Maybe this is a clue? John. --- In gcmac@yahoogroups.com, Thorsten Lemke <lemke@...> wrote: > > Hello, > > hmm, I changed here nothing. > > Did you try to switch to 32 bit mode? > > Thorsten > > > My Canon MG5150 scanner does not work with build 987. Hello, that is really curious. I checked the SVN. I changed nothing in twain between the 986 and 987.Thorsten On 03.09.2012, at 10:49, watcombeman <john@yclept.wanadoo.co.uk> wrote:   Yes. Hi, I'm sorry, Thorsten, but build 988 has not fixed it :-( 04/09/2012 11:12:38 GraphicConverter[23103] -[GCImageDocument setDisplayName:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x11518f3e0 04/09/2012 11:12:38 GraphicConverter[23103] -[GCImageDocument setDisplayName:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x11518f3e0 These were in the Console Messages section, and there was nothing else relevant to GC there.
