After failing with the internal downloader, I downloaded from the server using Safari. It appeared to complete normally, and left file gc8_build1100.dmg. But when I double click it, I get the same error as reported by Bob: "gc8_build1100.dmg   not recognized" (I assume this is from the image mounter). The download finished about 9:34AM this morning, and the .dmg file modified time was 7:26AM (both times USA Central Standard Time). I'm downloading the same file again now, from http://www.lemkesoft.org/files/graphicc ... ld1100.dmg . This time it appears to have worked (the new .dmg mounts, and I was able to install the app).
