Creating TIFF-files instead of JPG

Not on my but on my wife's computer: I she uses „save and next" after a modification, she gets a new TIFF file in the old place but a new folder with the old file unchanged. I do not see how to change this behaviour, og it did not change when I asked for the preference file and threw it away. What is the cure?
