Save file dialogue misbehaving with OSX Mavericks

I have installed Mavericks. All was working well except that the save file dialogue in GC (8.7.1) did not write the typed filename to the folder. It seems to use a clipboard name. Files can be unintentionally overwritten.I have just installed GC 8.8.1 and the problem seems to have gone away but I'll watch out for it reoccurring.
