Impossible to change preferences in GC9?

I tried to change some preferences in GC9 but they always changed back when I returned.I tried to trash the preferences file but the same thing happened.They were things like mm instead of inches, 0,5 mm border instead of 1,27 on prints, and 300 p resolution in PDF instead of 150.Whart can I do?

I uncheck “Notify if a new camera is connected”, click OK, quit GC (9), reopen, check the preferences on that item and behold, it has been checked again. I also have moved GC 8 to another folder, and along with it, the plists that accompanied GC 8.  Problem still exists.
