Slideshow bug and feature request

Post by Ian Davies »

Hi Thorsten,I just bought the GC9 upgrade and wondered if I could raise a bug issue that I originally reported for GC8.3 last year, and also suggest a small additional feature? The bug occurs in the slideshow feature, related to the 'zoom' function:If you have zoomed in on an image, then next time you zoom on an image in the same slideshow, there is a brief flash of the previous image that was zoomed in on (and at the magnification you were viewing it at), before then displaying the zoomed view of the current image.Running slideshows is one of the main tasks I perform with GC, and this can be quite distracting when it occurs on a large projector in a lecture hall! The feature request is also related to the slideshow, specifically the File list floating palette. Current behaviour:At the moment, the highlight to indicate which image in the list is currently being displayed travels down the list and then sits at the bottom of the palette while the names of any additional images scroll upwards one at a time. The problem:Specifically, this behaviour means that once the highlight gets to the bottom of the list, you no longer have any clue as to what the next image is going to be, since the name of the next file in the slideshow is not displayed until you actually advance. When presenting a slideshow, it's nice to know what is coming next, so that you can tailor your comments. The solution:Keep the highlight in the middle of the visible list whenever possible. The highlight moves down the list as normal until it gets to the halfway point of the vertical height of the floating palette. At this point, the list starts to scroll upwards, keeping the highlight in the middle of the view, thereby giving the presenter information on the upcoming filenames in the slideshow. Once the last name in the list has scrolled into view, the highlight continues to move down the list until it gets to the last filename. See attached GIF for a demo. Thanks for all the good work.cheersIan
