Most decent facial recognition technologies have been bought by social media companies. Neven Vision scored the best in tests and was bought by google and powers the facial recognition in Picasa which is why it's so good. Face.com which was excellent was bought by Facebook The second highest scoring technology was by Cognitec in Germany and is still available to licence. I believe it powers the facial recognition in Adobe Elements. Apple have facial recognition in iPhoto and Aperture but it isn't very good or well implemented in the software. Cognitec is probably the best solution still available. Picasa also has the best implementation although the software UI is a bit quirky We have been looking for decent facial and object recognition for ages. Really what we need is to be able to catalog a whole disk full of images and recognise the faces and write the name into a keyword. Currently we do this with Picasa and then a script imports the names into Lightroom which writes the name into a keyword. We would love to be able to do this with graphic converter.
