GC 6.7.7 browser behaviour suddenly changed

Post by Jim Mueller »

We have used GC 6.7.7's browser in SnowLeopard for ages as follows: - open a GC Browser window with a few hundred images and several folders we sort images into. - use the Find field to gather unfiled images - drag a found image to Photoshop (in the dock) and perform adjustments, cropping, etc. Save & close image in Photoshop. - switch back to GC and we then usually rename the file and drag it to a folder in the other GC Browser window. - repeat all day long... Starting yesterday when we follow the same routine: - when we switch back to GC's found file Browser window from Photoshop and click the thumbnail of the image we just edited, no image or information shows up in the Preview pane: it's just black like the file does not exist. - if we try to edit the image's name we get an alert that the file does not exist - if we try to drag the image to a folder in the other GC Browser window we get an alert similar to "The folder 'sorted images 3' can not be replaced". - we need to close the Found files window and perform the same Find again before we can rename or drag the edited image. We've rebooted numerous times and moved GC's preferences file (com.lemkesoft.graphicconverter.plist) to the Desktop so it would recreate them but the behaviour is still the same. The only updates performed on the System between GC working properly and the way it's misbehaving now is Flash and Firefox. The system is a MacBook Pro with MacOSX 10.6.8, 16GB RAM and 150+GB disc space free. What can we do to get GC back to functioning the way it did the day before yesterday? We know GC 6.7.7 is quite behind the times, but it performs so much faster on our Macs than the newer versions.

Hi Jim,curious. Did you try to trash the prefs? Did you install anything additional?ThorstenOn 25.02.2014, at 07:58, Jim Mueller <jimmueller@mac.com> wrote: Starting yesterday when we follow the same routine:- when we switch back to GC's found file Browser window from Photoshop and click the thumbnail of the image we just edited, no image or information shows up in the Preview pane: it's just black like the file does not exist.- if we try to edit the image's name we get an alert that the file does not exist- if we try to drag the image to a folder in the other GC Browser window we get an alert similar to "The folder 'sorted images 3' can not be replaced".- we need to close the Found files window and perform the same Find again before we can rename or drag the edited image.

Tried that - as I had said in the email: "... moved GC's preferences file (com.lemkesoft.graphicconverter.plist) to the Desktop so it would recreate them but the behaviour is still the same".No installs or updates other than Firefox and Flash. Now we're getting this sort of "The folder 'sorted images 3' can not be replaced" error without involving Photoshop. Appears to happen every time we use GC's browser Search and then try to drag images to a different folder.Moving GC's prefs to the desktop so it recreates the com.lemkesoft.graphicconverter.plist file does not prevent this. Hello,it worked for you in the past. So, it seems that you changed something in your OS. ThorstenOn 08.03.2014, at 07:51, Jim Mueller <jimmueller@mac.com> wrote: Now we're getting this sort of "The folder 'sorted images 3' can not be replaced" error without involving Photoshop. No updates I'm aware of between working and not working other than Adobe Reader & Flash. Are there any other files related to GC other than com.lemkesoft.graphicconverter.plist and the GC application itself? I'd like try a clean setup of GC as it would probably be easier than hunting down all of Adobe's bits & pieces. Dear Jim,only the pref file does affect the settings.ThorstenOn 08.03.2014, at 22:21, Jim Mueller <jimmueller@mac.com> wrote: No updates I'm aware of between working and not working other than Adobe Reader & Flash. Are there any other files related to GC other than com.lemkesoft.graphicconverter.plist and the GC application itself?
