save to random format
Hi, Why does GC save to some random format? For example I just opened a .tif file and when I saved it it was converted to a .jpg. Can this be cured with a preference setting? TIA, Robert Poland iMac, Late 2013, 14,2 3.2 GHz Intel Core I5, 27” 16 GB Ram, 1TB Fusion HD OS X 10.9.4 (13C64) GC 9.4

Hello, please check wether the picture file maybe had a wrong extension so it hat been a jpg before. Open the file’s folder in the browser, select the file and check in the right hand section first tab. In the middle of the list the file format is listed.Regards, Hagen Henke ---Hagen HenkeDresdner Str. 2601662 MeiaenTel: 03521 / 71 77 494Mobil: 0151 / 524 789 21www.fotoservice-henke.de Am 03.09.2014 um 17:41 schrieb Robert Poland rpoland@usa.net [gcmac] <gcmac@yahoogroups.com>: Hi,Why does GC save to some random format? For example I just opened a .tif file and when I saved it it was converted to a .jpg.Can this be cured with a preference setting?TIA,Robert PolandiMac, Late 2013, 14,2 3.2 GHz Intel Core I5, 27” 16 GB Ram, 1TB Fusion HD OS X 10.9.4 (13C64)GC 9.4------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Yahoo Groups Links<*> To visit your group on the web, go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gcmac/<*> Your email settings: Individual Email : Traditional<*> To change settings online go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gcmac/join (Yahoo! Hagen, This particular image was created by a scan and saved as a .tif. The Browser shows it as a .tif also. Hi Robert,Does it happen to other/all scanned .tif files or just this particular one?Can you replicate the same formatting error and see where it may go wrong? - may be helpful for Thorsten to make correction.Richard Richard ChuSunsets San Francisco, Californiahttp://home.earthlink.net/~ezzen/index.html On Sep 3, 2014, at 11:34 AM, Hagen Henke hagen.henke@gmx.de [gcmac] <gcmac@yahoogroups.com> wrote: Hello Robert, please email the file zipped to Thorsten next week.Regards, Hagen---Hagen HenkeDresdner Str. 2601662 MeiaenTel: 03521 / 71 77 494Mobil: 0151 / 524 789 21www.fotoservice-henke.deAm 03.09.2014 um 17:54 schrieb Robert Poland rpoland@usa.net [gcmac] <gcmac@yahoogroups.com>:Hagen,This particular image was created by a scan and saved as a .tif. Re: save to random format
Hello Robert,Have you looked into Preferences/Save/Generals, two radio buttons on the right "Keep existing format" and "Last selected format". Select "Keep existing" and try with your tiff file.Thanks.

Thanks, I’m sure that was the answer. Seems to be working now. Can’t imagine how I missed that. Welcome Robert,The trivial stuff is so often overlooked. In PC support dept, when someone calls saying the printer does not work, the first question is: "Is the printer plugged in the electrical outlet?"(!!!)Good day.Luc

Posted by:vluccaronHello Robert, Have you looked into Preferences/ Save/Generals, two radio buttons on the right "Keep existing format" and "Last selected format" . Select "Keep existing" and try with your tiff file. Thanks. I have always had the Preferences set to SAVE: Suggesting last save folder and Last selected format since Version 4 or so. That procedure works for me.Bucky
