Just a followup on this thread. I finally got around to trying some stuff out. Older RAW files from my older cameras didn't load any faster in the slideshow so it wasn't my new camera's files causing additional delay. I did try GC Prefs > Open > Photo Raw > Opening Toolbox > Only dcraw and I also turned off the 16bit load and I also noticed the default for color space was adobe RGB (my camera is set for sRGB so I changes GC to match. All in all, my fullscreen (slideshow) speed has sped up considerably and is now much improved.Thanks both to Thorsten and Matti for the tips. Like Matti, my main purpose of the slideshow functionality is to simply quick scan new photos, deleting the non-keepers as I go. So I don't need much more than a decent display of the image to make that decision. As I am not editing, I don't need 16-bit and other stuff like that.
