Highlighting a face in a group photo

Can anyone suggest how to highlight a single face in a group photo using GC9?Would like to either brighten the face of interest or ghost the remainder of the image, with a smooth blurred edge or similar between the two - not a hard line ellipse or circle.CheersJonathan

Dear Jonathan,simple select the face and use the tools/effects like core image filters to apply the effect only to that face.Or select the face. Invert the selection and use the core image filters to i.e. unsharp the other persons.Thorsten Can anyone suggest how to highlight a single face in a group photo using GC9?Would like to either brighten the face of interest or ghost the remainder of the image, with a smooth blurred edge or similar between the two - not a hard line ellipse or circle.CheersJonathan

I’ve never tried doing that in GC, but in Photoshop I select the pixels comprising the face (and sometimes the whole person) and then use Levels to make those pixels use the entire range of brightness; that’s sliding the black level up to the blackest pixel and the white level down to the brightest pixel. That will generally make the selected pixels stand out from the background. Sometimes I also change the midlevel point to improve the look; depends on what looks best. Simply brightening the pixels will do something similar, but I think will not present the face in the best light, so to speak, unless it’s a bad picture and everything else is dark anyway.
