Suppose I have a round image and I want to make everything outside the circle transparent.
1) I click on the magic pen and select the area outside the round image.
2) Next, I click the Transparency tool to make the selection transparent.
Oops ! the selection disappears (when I click the transparency tool).
Why is that ? I understand that creating a selection and than choosing menu options : Edit, Make selection transparent does what I want to do. But why does GC deselect a selection when I choose a tool ?
Am I missing something (for example to lock the selection) ?
I could not find the answer via the manual so any pointers are welcome.
Thanks !

Re: I do not understand selections in GC
Ah - use the following:
1) Click onto the area outside the image.
2) Menu command: Edit/Make Selection Transparent
3) Menu command: Picture/Alpha Channel/Create from Transparency
or more simple:
1) Use the transparency tool and click into the area outside the image That will create the transparent alpha channel with one click.
