Scanners?

Post by Mark D. Chapman »

My wife would like a scanner. Can I scan directly into GC 4? If so will any scanner that works with OS X also work with GC 4.5? Thanks, Mark -- Mark Chapman - Centre for the Study of Religion - University of Toronto

It also scans film negatives and slides. You must download the software from Epson's web site but this is a minor inconvenience.

You must have a TWAIN compatible scanner. That is, the scanner manufacturer has to provide TWAIN drivers that work under Mac OS X. My HP Precision 3500 series scanner does not ship with such a driver (although it does have Mac OS X compatible software). Thus, scanning cannot be done directly into GC 4.x.y. If anyone out there knows of such a TWAIN driver for the HP Precision 3500, please let me know. I'd be very pleased to be wrong about this :-) Clint On Saturday, December 28, 2002, at 11:59 PM, Frank Taylor wrote: >> My wife would like a scanner. Can I scan directly into GC 4? I'd be very pleased to be wrong about this :-) So, this implies there are other companies/individuals apart from Hewlet Packard (HP) that develop these TWAIN drivers ? Who might these people be and if HP doesn't do it.. Who might? Is it difficult to make them? I'm interested in multipage scanners with autofeeders that can also take in my photos. Anybody any info on these? Sven-Belgium > Clint > > On Saturday, December 28, 2002, at 11:59 PM, Frank Taylor wrote: > >>> My wife would like a scanner. Can I scan directly into GC 4? I know that Epson distributes TWAIN drivers that work with some of their scanners for Mac OS X. Check out http://www.epsondevelopers.com/ and click on the "Scanning Solutions for Mac OS X" link. Unfortunately I discovered this after I bought my HP Scanner ;-) Hope this helps.
