If so that's a text document created in an older version of WordPerfect, not a graphics file. Graphic Converter may not even handle that format, I saw .wpd but not .wps in the conversion format listing (and I was impressed to even see .wpd!). That's probably why Thorsten asked for the file format details. A quick research on the Safari's built-in google engine for ".wps files" (the full sentence is http://www.google.com/search?q=%22.wps+ ... 8&oe=UTF-8) shows that *.wps files may be: 1. A Micro$oft Works text format 2. A kind of document viewable in QuickView Win98 (a pattern is starting to appear...) 3. The acronym may mean "Wisconsin Public Service", but that is out of issue here So in conclusion I would bet my money as *.wps are very old Works files of type document text (and I don't mean Claris or AppleWorks) and no graphic format at all. GraphicConverter opens almost every GRAPHIC format on the planet, but it's not a can opener. -- Paulo Nascimento On Sexta, Jun 20, 2003, at 14:03 Europe/Lisbon, stephen e. schwartz wrote: > hello again thorsten, I am just a humble mac user, I have no > information > about technical file format details. The "continue" means "end if" was the missing part that I never would have gotten, even after your first email. I have three more questions, please: 1). Would this have been covered in the $10 manual? Not just covered tersely and incompletely like the 2 emails, but clearly enough for a dummy like me (who incidentally has a computer science degree from MIT). I'm thankful for the help, but I'd rather do it myself and would if there were a USEFUL reference. 2). How do I just perform the filter to operation on a folder without having to have a destination folder? 3). Is there a way to trash instead of delete? Many thanks. This brings up another question. With 4.7 coming out next week, will there be a 4.7 Henke manual soon? Neal C. hello thorsten and all who contributed to this discussion. It turns out thorsten's intuition was good -- the document is not a graphics file after all. It is, as someone suggested, a microsoft works document, which had a graphics embedded within it. so thank you all for your suggestions. As it turns out, microsoft word for the mac doesnt open microsoft works documents (why am I not wholly surprised) nor for that matter does maclink, which does surprise me as I pay pretty good money to keep this up to date. oh well. thanks again all, -steve ------ At 8:47 AM +0200 6/20/03, lemkesoft@t-online.de wrote: >Am 19.06.2003 15:48 Uhr schrieb "stephen e. schwartz" unter <ses@bnl.gov>: > >> hello thorsten, I received an attachment to an email from a pc user that >> was a photo (I think) as a .wps document.
