GC 12.0.6 .dmg fails to mount in Sonoma 14.0 (Permission denied). A fresh download with Sonoma Safari from both GC servers fail.
Also a previously Ventura Safari GC 12.0.5 .dmg download fails to mount in Sonoma although no problem was in Ventura with that .dmg.
No problem with other .dmg images so far.

Re: GC 12.0.6 .dmg fails to mount in Sonoma 14.0
I tried just a few seconds ago: Download with Safari. Mount works perfectly.
Permission denied indicates a security issue. Is the dmg in the downloads folder?

Re: GC 12.0.6 .dmg fails to mount in Sonoma 14.0
Is maybe the quarantine flag set?
Re: GC 12.0.6 .dmg fails to mount in Sonoma 14.0
I used xattred.app to remove the quarantine flag and after that the .dmg mounted.
Maybe some teething issues with Sonoma 14.0? I have never needed to do this manually before. This is a clean Sonoma install and all other downloaded .dmg images have mounted OK.

I tested this too.
I see no issues.

Re: GC 12.0.6 .dmg fails to mount in Sonoma 14.0
The screenshot shows that the macOS did not grant access.
Please try a right mouse button click and select open. The quarantine flag is set by the local machine - not the server.

Re: GC 12.0.6 .dmg fails to mount in Sonoma 14.0
Most .dmg open OK in Sonoma but I noticed that a .dmg with a license agreement pop-up have the same problem. Such as:
GraphicConverter, TinkerTool, DMG Canvas:
https://www.lemkesoft.de/en/products/gr ... r/download
http://www.bresink.com/osx/0TinkerTool/download.php
https://www.araelium.com/dmgcanvas
Also Spotify installer seems to fail with a similar error "An error occurred while trying to mount the downloaded Spotify disk image".
This error is not yet widely reported so I suspect it might be caused by my setup or maybe my oldish Mac mini 2018. In macOS 13.6 Ventura those .dmg mount OK.
This is a clean macOS 14.0 Sonoma install to an external disk.
I have unsuccessfully tried to fix this by:
Safe-boot
SMC and PRAM reset
Disk First Aid in Recovery mode is OK
Disable macOS internal Firewall
Right-click > Open .dmg
In another new user account
Safari download location from ~Desktop to ~Downloads
Safari "Open safe files after downloading" from OFF to ON
Download with Firefox instead Safari
Dirty macOS 13.6 -> 14.0 upgrade on an external disk
Reinstall macOS 14.0 Sonoma on top of the old install
Download a new macOS 14.0 Sonoma installer and do another clean install to an external disk
It seems the quarantine flag is not properly cleared. A workaround that fixes this is:
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine file.dmg
But I'd rather let macOS more gracefully automatically handle this.

Thanks for the hint.
I forward that details to the developer of DropDMG (the tool used for the creation).
