[Added] Batching and Macros difficulty with Alpha and Cropping

Hello,

I am attempting to create a workflow using Convert and Modify to process DNG 35mm slide images created using VueScan (thank you Hamrick Software!).

The images are 4 channel raw with the 4th channel the alpha/infrared image from the scanner. GraphicConverter handily reads the DNG perfectly (thank you Lemke Software!) but I need to perform some operations that I can't seem to implement via batches and macros.

I can perform this manually but not automated:

With the DNG image open I...

1) Show alpha channel in separate window.

2) Perform a Levels command to make the border around the slide's film image (the 100%-opaque slide carrier frame) fully white, while making anything within the film area solid black. This is to be the true alpha for the final image.

The reason for the above step is that the slide film is not 100%-transparent to infrared so there is a residual image there.

3) Having modified the alpha channel I close the alpha window and then perform a Smart Crop "All sides automatically" which works perfectly.


So, I tried making the above steps a macro but it does not record/playback faithfully, and the depth of commands available in a pure batch sequence does not seem to be adequate. I admit I'm still a novice with the batch capabilities.

Any ideas or advice welcome and appreciated, and I hope over time I can also contribute to this forum.

I added three new functions. So, the show alpha and level command is not required.
Also, I added as batch Threshold Alpha with the three options.
