On occasion I have need to have a very large slide show to assist in sorting images, can be as large as 10,000 photos. They are all .jpg files between 250 and 400kb in size. When I moved to a M2 macbook air, I started to see stalls when scrolling through the file list, bringing up the spinning beachball and freezing for up to 15 seconds.
Have been using GC since it was distributed on floppy and had never seen this behavior before. It does not happen on my M1 max studio, and did not happen on an earlier M1 mackbook air. I went so far as to completely wipe the M2 laptop clean to start from scratch and the problem persisted.
Yesterday I received a brand new M4 macbook air, only installed GC and a folder of 5000 images and the stalling and beachball continues on the brand new computer.
I am running the current version (12.4.2) on all systems. I did try reverting to version 11 on the M2 Air with the same result.
Is there anything I can do to solve this problem?

Re: Stall on Large Slide Shows.
Hmm, can I please get a spindump during the hang?
What happens if you display the slideshow in a window instead of fullscreen?
What is the file format of the images and the memory size of the Mac?
I suggest to continue by support email support@lemkesoft.de

Issue was solved by trashing the GraphicConverter setting with our First Aid tool:
