Merge color profile without saving / Eyedropper bug?

The "merge color profile into image" feature is really great -- I've been using it a bunch. I wish Photoshop Elements would let me do this, the silly thing. One thing I'm wondering -- is it possible to do the same thing without saving first? Here's why I ask. When there's an embedded color profile in the image, the eyedropper tool doesn't work correctly. It picks up the uncalibrated color instead of the calibrated color. So, if I want to use the also new, also great, Preserve Foreground and Background colors where downsampling color in an image, I can't pick the correct color right now. I have to save the image with the merged color profile, then open it back up again and reduce the colors. Thanks! Joe
