emigrating from iPhoto

I'm also working on this with a client right now. I archived it all, then copied everything to a big, offboard USB drive, and am doing the changes there. The only problems I'm having are keeping images dated usefully and eliminating duplicates. He has lots of dupes with different names and creation dates. Also, there is the way iPhoto corrupts dates. Am using the little batch renaming app Renamer for Mac to put the true creation date into the image filename so it can't get lost. Using GC to move image files out of iPhoto and into another file structure works fine for me.
