Center brightness filter details?

I am really excited about the prospects for the center brightness filter (CBF). I use GC for photomicroscopy, and I often have problems with uneven field illumination at certain magnifications. Is there a way to accentuate uneven illumination, so I can build a CBF profile that will correct this? I will play around with hues and saturation to see if I can convert a white field to one in which I can recognize illumination errors more readily. Are there tricks I should know about? David
