Creating graphic reflection

I know it's the latest fad, but I'm curious how to create a reflection (usually below) a graphic. iWeb seemed to start this idea and now you see the effect built into a lot of newer image editing apps. I couldn't find a thread on this topic. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
