GC vs Finder & Photoshop

My wife is using GC Browser to display the contents of a folder of images she is working on. Her usual workflow is to drag some of the images in the GC Browser into an open folder on her desktop (an open folder in the Finder, not another GC browser), and to drag others that need work onto the Photoshop icon in the Dock where they would open. She edits them, saves them, Refreshes the GC Browser then drags the edited item to the same folder on the desktop. Today, about 1 in 10 of the images when dragged to the Photoshop icon wound up getting moved to the Desktop instead even though the Photoshop icon in the Dock was highlighted and its name appeared. Just as often when she tried to drag an image from the GC Browser to the folder she would get the little white "no" icon. If she then hit Resort instead of Refresh in the GC Browser when she locates the image she worked on (since the Browser always scrolls to the top when you do a Resort) she can then drag it to the folder with no problem. Is there any rational explanation for this sudden change in behaviour, or is her MacBook Pro just telling her to knock it off today? MacBook Pro, 2.3Ghz, 2Gb MacOS 10.4.9 GC 5.9.5 UB PS CS3
