RFI - GC with a Nikon Coolscan V

Hello, Trying to get Graphic Converter to acquire scans of slides and negatives from a Nikon Coolscan V LC 50 - Mac Dual 2.GHz is running Mac OS-X 10.4.11 I've found the Nikon software unreliable and the quality pretty poor so I was hoping that simply by dropping the Nikon Plugin into Graphic Converter I could scan using GC. Unfortunately, unless I am missing something, (always possible), GC simply fires up the Nikon software and the results are similar. It all worked so well when I had my Polaroid SprintScan 35...., Any help and advice apprecaited....., Thanks Simon
