GC as a replacement for iView Media Pro?

A friend of mine has been using iView Media Pro 1.5.11 for many years on an iMac G5. She is likely to soon purchase a new intel iMac and is concerned that her old version of iView Media Pro will not run properly on it. Can GC be used as a replacement in any way for iView Media Pro? Does it have any cataloguing and versioning features? Thanks.
