Slide show behavior

I use slide show many many times a day. Tonight rather than going through the drop down menu to get to slide show I was in Browse and selected slide show. I have slide show set up to put the folder show up so I can track of where I am (many thousands of pics a day I must have a reminder). What happened next is unusual. As I am going through the folder the highlighted member name in the menu stopped advancing and no matter how far I went it had stopped even though the picture had been viewed by at least 100. When I go into slide show through the drop down menu the problem doesn't occur. Now when I go back in through Browse -> slideshow it works sporadicly. Ed gc 6.74 will not go to 7 for many months until most problems have been found OS X 10.4.11 dual g5 6 Gig Memory
