Thanks Gordon, Brain glitch there - mind was on printers.Scanners…frank h.: 0 On Mar 14, 2012, at 12:14 PM, Gordon Alley wrote:   Frank-I'm not sure what you mean. VueScan doesn't have anything directly to do with printers, unless it's a mufti-function printer with a built-in scanner. No Internet searching or downloading abilities AFAIK (I'm not at home where my Mac is). VueScan is a flexible scanner program (LOTS of settings you can tweek) that supports current scanners as well as scads of old models that are no longer supported by their manufacturers. Howdy. VueScan is still around and is a good program for use with older scanners where the original maker hasn't updated drivers. VueScan is, perhaps, a bit more oriented toward slide scanning than some programs. Another good product to look for is SilverFast. Check <http://www.silverfast.com> SilverFast comes in low, medium, and high versions. It's also a good program that may support older scanners. SilverFast is probably a bit more oriented toward flatbed image scanning rather than slide scanning. It's also important to understand that some scanners may work fine on Macintosh computers without Rosetta installed as in a Mac OS X 10.7 Lion computer. Many people use TWAIN via Photoshop to scan and a lot of scanner makers have not provided a 64-bit Lion compatible TWAIN driver for scanning. You can use the native scanner makers program to scan directly - bypassing Photoshop's scan/TWAIN link - or you can set Photoshop to launch in 32-bit mode instead of 64-bit mode. Photoshop on Lion, set to 32-bit, should scan via TWAIN link. Denver Dan On Wed, 14 Mar 2012 11:46:51 -0700, Frank H wrote: > Gordon, > > I remember view scan from the late 90's I think.
