Image Capture - Help needed with Automator
Since I can no longer use TWAIN with GC8, I would like to set things up so that when I select File/Scan/Scan with Image Capture and complete the scan, the scanned image is automatically opened in GC. It looks as though I should be able to do this with Automator. But I have been trying to work out how all afternoon and am completely baffled. Should I be using an Image Capture Plugin, a Folder Action, or what? Or is AppleScript (which has always completely baffled me) a better method? Can anybody help me? John.

John, I have VueScan (http://hamrick.com/) set up to do just that. No Automator required. Image Capture works OK when called by GC7 or GC8, but the image does not open automatically in either. I have to open it manually. Is it supposed to?John. Re: Image Capture - Help needed with Automator
A quick follow-up question: If I set Image Capture to Send to GraphicConverter, it dumps its scans in /Pictures. Is there any way to get it to dump them in a nominated sub-folder in Pictures? There seem to be no Preferences or similar in which a default destination could be set, and if I tell it to send them to a subfolder then of course GC doesn't open with them any more John. --- In gcmac@yahoogroups.com, John Hill <john@...> wrote: > > A folder in /Pictures. > > But following your reply, I now see I can scan to GraphicConverter, and that works. > > Problem solved. > > John. > > On 3 Apr 2012, at 07:05, Thorsten Lemke wrote: > > > Hello, > > > > What did you select as scan destination? > > > > Thorsten > > > > > Von: John Hill <john@...> > > > Antworten an: <gcmac@yahoogroups.com> > > > Datum: Tue, 3 Apr 2012 06:29:11 +0100 > > > An: <gcmac@yahoogroups.com> > > > Betreff: Re: [gcmac] Image Capture - Help needed with Automator > > > > > > Image Capture works OK when called by GC7 or GC8, but the image does not open > > > automatically in either.
