page setup does not remember settings

I print on a custom paper size which has been saved in Page Setup. Each time I print, I must open Page Setup and select the custom size. The setting is not remembered even within a session. Is this a Finder problem or a GC problem? GC 9.1 (1559) OSX 10.9.2 iMac 2.7 GHz core i5 RAM 8 GB Peter
