stuck clipboard and tool selector not working

In GC version 8 I can't seem to select a portion of an image any longer and the system clipboard has a recent image stuck on it all the time  -  what can be done?And how does one select a part of an image to make a new image when all this is disabled now.. ?Wayne Eligur

Dear Wayne,thanks for your e-mail.I do not understand completely. I don't have a tool box either - now that I am looking around there... prefs... did not like having it floating so hid it and now can't find it?
