Hello,did you select all files in the folder before opening the dialog?The rename is applied only to the selection. So, the preview will only display the selected files.Thorsten The rename dialog does not show any files. At all. Regardless of radio button chosen.All it shows is the folder chosen and what it's new name would be. In this case  with chosen folders's parent folder's name added.That's not right, is it?As you say: the subfolder's content IS processed, but shouldn't I be able to see the effects beforehand?Johan

No I do only select one central folder. In that folder there are several subfolders with files in them. There is no way to select both files and folders together, and have the selection displayed. Or to select files from more than one folder. The option is to choose either folder(s) or the files in one (only) folder.The preview window, as I said, does only display the central folder, and shows oddly enough, what new name it will get. Hitting the "Run" button does not make that change, the chosen folder's name remains unchanged.Let's be clear though, that instead of the change displayed (chosen folder name change), what DOES happen is precisely what I want: name change in all subfolders. So that is not the problem.In previous version of GC all the files in a selected folder would also get selected in the preview. Not only that, but I would get a preview of all the chosen subfolders and all of their respective content. Yes, the renaming is fine. I get the result that I want. No problem.But the preview is not what I expect.What is the purpose of the Radio buttons under "Specials", namely: "Files and folders" / "Files" / "Folders" + "Subfolder content" - if there is no visual effect in the preview window regardless of button chosen? Wouldn't it be nice to see the preview before you change thousands of files?Yes I run 9.5. No problem.But the preview is not what I expect.What is the purpose of the Radio buttons under "Specials", namely: "Files and folders" / "Files" / "Folders" + "Subfolder content" - if there is no visual effect in the preview window regardless of button chosen? Ok Thorsten, I get your msg.My radio buttons function all right. They do what I ask for.But the preview window remains static and does not display what effects will take place, regardless of radio button chosen. I think it should. I think it should show subfolder content.What I did after upgrading both my Mac and GC was that I moved some Actions and Rename files from the old computer to the GC 9.5. After having seen problems I erased the program totally and reinstalled. I wonder if I caused the problem or if the program has a bug?
