GC always seems to be downloading an update when closing.

Frequently, when I am quitting GC, I get a message that a download is in progress asking me if I really want to quit. I have the update preference set to check updates daily but I am never notified that an update is available. Usually I wait until you post here that a new version is available and I manually update it. Is there a way to stop this downloading message when I quit? It is more annoying than a bug.
