Keeping image size constant in slideshow

Post by crisscross »

I have recently changed my main computer from MBP 17" to iMac 27" 5k. The previous screen resolution made it practical for slideshow window to occupy the whole screen (c2600w) and .jpg images typically 2500px wide to show at an appropriate scale.

With 5160px wide screen images are greatly over-enlarged if the window occupies the whole screen, yet it is hardly a "slideshow" if it window is surrounded by a mix of other windows from the various running applications, including GC browser windows. There is a further problem using 'magic mouse' that getting pointer to bottom right hand corner to enlarge slideshow window also vastly increases magnification of images.

So the question is: is there a way of keeping images to their saved pixel dimensions within a totally black screen?

BTW I have set command+G to turn on slideshow using the Network Preferences>Keyboard>Keyboard shortcuts as I am really usually just wanting to run a few images to compare, not an actual slideshow with audience and have all transitions etc turned off.

GraphicConverter displays a slideshow by default against a black background.

Did you maybe disable the fullscreen option in the prefs?
