[Solved] Transparent background showing as black

I just installed the GraphicConverter version 10.6.4 (3185) update. I opened a .png file that has a transparent background and instead of the gray and white checkered background I am used to seeing, the background was showing as black. I checked GC Preferences/General/Display content and confirmed that the Alpha Channel “Display with mask” was selected as was “Display alpha channel white for transparent parts". I then quit GraphicConverter and used GraphicConverter FirstAid to trash GC preferences. The condition did not change. When I pasted the graphic into a PowerPoint slide, the transparency was correct.

Hi,

thanks for your report.

Looks like an issue introduced by the change to XCode 10.

I added a workaround.

Please recheck:

Thank you for your quick response, Thorsten. I downloaded the beta, ran GC First Aid to delete preferences, but the transparent image background still shows black rather than the gray and white checkerboard.

Please redownload the current build 3187. That fixes it.
I found another Xcode change.
