Import from Digital Camera destroyed the pictures

I updated to MacOS 10.15 which has caused a lot of trouble.
In your case I just lost 4 photos from my iPone8. At first GC did not find anything on the phone. Then I updated to GC 11.1 and the files had become visible, along with some files which I did not recognise. I imported them all but GC told me that it was unable to open the files and deleted them.
What is wrong?

I just checked the import here. It worked without any issue.

The import is done by the Apple Image Capture SDK.

Did you try a restart?

What are your settings in the import options?

I believe that the problem is solved. GC had lost the knowledge of the usual folder for the imports and placed the photos in a new folder called Foto in its own settings-folder in Library. Really difficult to find but I managed to.

Maybe Catalina did change the stored bookmark.
